I’ve been a fan of JRPG’s(Japanese Role Playing Games) ever since Final Fantasy. In recent years, however, I’ve found that they aren’t as challenging as they once were and that the stories haven’t been as compelling to me as they once were. This changed however when a port of a PlayStation 3 title was announced for Play Station 4.
The Legend of Heroes franchise was a JRPG series that i’d only heard of a few times and only by name. I had never heard whether it was considered good or bad so I decided to buy the game and decide for myself. I instantly fell in love.
The first title I played in the franchise was the Trails of Cold Steel series, the latest arc of the overall Zumeria continent story. After spending a considerable amount of time learning the game’s unique play style and features, I finally finished the first entry.
The Trails of Cold Steel series has a total of 4 entries within it, however only 3 have been localized for a western audience thus far. The great thing about this is that each game make small changes to the formula and add in new features that weren’t in the previous title. With these changes, many new options and strategies become available not only for the player, but for the enemies as well.

The newest entry follows the main character 2 years after the civil war from Cold Steel 2. As a teacher at the new branch campus of the military school he attended. This allows the player to meet new characters that have unique abilities unlike those in the first two games, as well as, allowing us to meet our old classmates in their new occupations throughout the game.
For those of you interested in a great game and want to see if it is for you, check out the trailer for the newest entry in the U.S.
